New work at Princess Street Gallery in the Bahamas
I shipped paintings in January and then created some brand new ones while there teaching workshops. If you visit Harbour Island, be sure to stop by the gallery. It is chock full of beautiful things!
Art Week at P Bar Ranch in MT
Thanks to the kindness and generosity of new and old friends, I had the honor of attending a week of art-making, discovery, and learning in beautiful Montana. Being with a group of visual artists, musicians, writers, nature-lovers, and engineers was an idea and pure joy generator.
The natural beauty of the land, and the passion, perspectives and warmth of each participant made the experience one I will appreciate for all my years.
Thank you to all who attended the final workshops of 2024 and the first workshops of 2025!
From collage, to painting faces with mixed media, to drawing lessons, we covered lots of ground in December, January and February, starting with workshops in my hometown of Little Rock, and most recently with a series of classes on Harbour Island in the Bahamas. What a joy to spend time with curious, talented, kind people. Thank you!
The Madrid Academy of Art
I had the great honor of attending the Madrid Academy of Art in 2024 which was a tremendous gift. The workshop teaching I do funds my own art education and cyclically, the lessons I learn make me a better teacher.
Not normally a realistic pencil drawer, I produced studies at the academy for academic growth only. Traditional drawing improves all my art, no matter how loose or abstract some pieces be, because the academy lessons improve how I observe, think and see.
Juried Artist Registry NEWS!
After visiting the National Museum of Women in the Arts years ago in Washington, DC, I was delighted to learn that each state can participate in the museum’s mission by forming a state chapter. “Helen Walton and Ed Dell Wortz established the Arkansas Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts in 1989 to carry out the NMWA’s mission: boosting awareness and appreciation of women artists, who are still underrepresented in museums and undervalued in the market.”
I am honored to be recently selected for the registry among some of my favorite Arkansas artists. To learn more about the organization and 2023-2025 selected artists, click here.
